The History of Calvary Baptist Church
The official beginning of Calvary Baptist Church was in 1953. The original structure was a tent
purchased for $25.00 and erected on some borrowed property.
It was this humble beginning that has carried Calvary Baptist through the years- realizing that it's
God, and He alone, who grants all good things, including the ministry of Calvary Baptist in this community.

Calvary Baptist Church has a long and rich history
within the Fort Worth area. It's founders were men and families of God whose sole
desire was to see people within the John T. White area come to know Jesus as Lord and
Savior.
The founding pastor, Brother Everett served as pastor for 33 years and resigned that position on July 20, 1986.
The church then called Brother Mike Smith who served from October 1986-September 1988.
Calvary's next pastor was Brother Kenneth McLarry who served from September 1988 September 1989.
Brother Harry Smith served the church on an interim basis from October 1989 until he was ordained by the Rogers Baptist Church of Garland, Texas, on January 27, 1990 and accepted the full pastorate. Brother Smith resigned as pastor in July of 1992. As of this writing, he is the current pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Kaufman, Texas.
On August 12, 1992, the church called Brother Lonnie Collier who served as pastor from then until October of 1997. As of this writing, Brother Collier is the pastor of Prairie Vista Baptist Church in Godly, Texas, which the Lord blessed he and his wife to begin.
In October 1997, the church called Brother Lyndon Pettijohn, who served as pastor from then til March of 2007. He is now the pastor of First Baptist Church, Clute, Texas.
Brother Shannon was called to the pastorate on May 1, 2007 and is the current pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.
